Thank you for your interest in working for Rother District Council (RDC).  Now is a very exciting time for RDC, we have achieved a great deal over the past 18 months, and as we finalise our vision and council plan for the future, we have reshaped the organisation to deliver our aspirations and created new roles to strengthen our leadership and management.  We have a number of opportunities which could be a fantastic chance for you to develop your career, working with a friendly and committed team in a beautiful part of the country.  You can enjoy medieval forests and our south coast beaches with fresh sea air, whilst improving outcomes for our communities.

There is a range of information about the council, and our amazing district, on this site, as well as further information about the roles available, we hope that you will want to find out more and get in touch to pursue an application – you’ll find all the details you need in the roles section.

We are clear that it is our colleagues who make Rother District Council (RDC) what it is, and they are our greatest asset.  We want the experience of our colleagues to be the best and believe that this will improve the performance of the organisation – achieving better outcomes for the residents and the district whilst also making the council more efficient.  We are clear about our expectations of colleagues and managers, having recently launched our values and behaviours, a new Target Operating Model and draft Council Plan for 2024-28, ensuring our people are aligned with our priorities, recognising the skills and potential we have and will need in the future.

The Council has been incredibly successful in accessing external grant programmes to help to fund and deliver our ambitions, bringing in significant investment in recent times – Funding boost as Council marks 50th anniversary, securing almost £100m, with more in the pipeline.  Like all councils we are having to make difficult choices, but we are in a stable position financially – you can find out more here – 2024/25 Budget Consultation – Financial Challenges Ahead
